Drone View Line Photography for 24 Duncan Street, West End, Brisbane

June 11, 2025 - 3 minutes read

At 24 Duncan Street, West End, our drone view line photography project delivered crisp, height-accurate visuals that demonstrate exactly what future residents will see from each floor. Working with the developer, we prioritized line-of-sight captures, development view corridors, and elevation-based perspectives to support planning, marketing, and stakeholder confidence.

Project Background & Visual Context

This site sits in a highly visual part of West End, where views of the river, skyline, and nearby green spaces are key to value. Our job was to map site relationships and view corridors at each significant slab height. By doing so, we help the design team understand how each unit’s outlook performs in real context.

Our Method: Height-Based Drone Photography

Using a precision drone system (with RTK or equivalent), we flew predetermined height levels—matching architectural plans—and captured aerial perspective imagery from each. Each capture was aligned to the design to accurately reflect height views and sightlines in the surrounding environment.

Deliverables: View Line Imagery & Interactive Viewer

Deliverables included:

  • Drone view line photography captured from precise level heights to match architectural plans
  • RTK-accurate positioning using the DJI Mavic 3 Enterprise for dependable vertical accuracy
  • A variety of perspectives, including wide-angle and standard focal lengths
  • A web-based interactive viewer designed for easy navigation across levels and perspectives

The captured data is now being used by the Zen Group team and their consultants to review view corridors, identify potential design refinements, and prepare for DA and stakeholder presentations.

Why View Line Photography Matters for Development Projects

View line photography bridges the gap between drawings and reality. It allows:

  • Designers to refine massing based on how views shift
  • Developers to showcase unit variation by view quality
  • Buyers/investors to see exactly what their outlook will be
  • Planning stakeholders to get verified visuals instead of artist impressions

By supplying height-based view simulations and view corridor mapping, the project became a powerful asset in council submissions and marketing collateral.
